lack luster compared to the the Fantom 8, they are NOT the same, as I've heard a ton of A B comparisons on Youtube. Yes I did check out the RD2000, and Fantom 08, and Montage 8, and the Fantom 08 internal sounds are just. the question is, can I train my hands to be able to play extremely fast on action that's THAT hard? As for the internals of the Fantom 8? Absolutely stunning and beautiful. when on a softer keyboard I could probably one take most things. great, but the keybed is horribly hard, (yes, I tried it in person) and will make recording fast anything annoying, fatiguing and filled with unnecessary takes. In all, the hardware of the Kurzweil K2700 seems excellent, and a dream come true to me, but the internal are just. I will also be attaching romplers via MIDI, so the sliders will be assigned as volume knobs, so have 8 or so sliders is necessary for me. I compose/songwrite music mainly using full orchestra (recorded individually in parts most of the time), horn sections, synths, acoustic pianos, organs, and stuff like that. I know Kurzweil is praised for its orchestral samples, and they do sound really great, but then again, the Fantom 8's acoustic piano samples are glorious and sound like its from a modern Netflix anime, which is wonderful. My main goal is to have a keyboard that has the highest quality of samples emulating acoustic instruments that I can record and songwrite with that can end up in the final product, without it ever sounding synthetic. and the Fantom 8's aftertouch is apperantly kind of. I also love that the Kurzweil has after touch that apperantly is really good. I mainly want a keyboard that has everything the Kurzweil has physically, except I don't care about those rubber blocks on the right of every keyboard today, that people use as drum pads, and I'm glad the Kurzweil has a ribbon, it's really cool, and seems so solid and usable, but the Fantom 8 not having a ribbon isn't a deal breaker for me. Perhaps sample packs that I can download online and put them into the Kurzweil with a usb stick would solve this issue? Any extremely hi fidelity acoustic piano and orchestral sample packs that anyone would recommend?Īs for hi fidelity, why does the Kurzweil not sound as hi fidelty as the Fantom 8? I assume its the DAC's? Do they have the same DAC's, or different? Is it the bit rate of the samples? Is the max bit rate the same on both the Fantom 8 and the Kurzweil K2700? I have a feeling the Kurzweil K2700 has a smaller sample bit rate, thus making the quality in the final product and output sound on the Kurzweil lower fidelty/quality than the Fantom 8? Or am I wrong? so close, they just need a tiiiny bit more quality for them to sound amazing to me. The orchestral sounds are nice, but they just keep being soooo close to amazing. above average, in both quality and fidelity. The acoustic piano and orchestral sounds are stunning and extremely hi fidelty (I'm huge on hifi sounding stuff) on the Fantom 8, but the Kurzweil's acoustic piano sounds are. I feel like my fingers need to be on steroids to use them. Specifically I hope to find an instrument that has a good piano-like weighted 88 keys keyboard and good emulations of rhodes, wurlitzer, clavinet etc with options for settings as well as grand pianos.I'm torn, the keybed on the Kurzweil is better for fast stuff (which I will constantly be doing), and SO HARD on the Roland Fantom 8. The lounge lizard is good, but when playing the FP-90 or Kronos I just start dreaming I even tried keyscape and I could not get rid of latency issues and the velocity never seems right for my e-piano. I want to get an instrument like this for personal use at home, because I don't enjoy playing through vst. ![]() And it is double the price of the other instruments I tried (the vendor said I should consider the MODX8 instead of the Montage). So I would pay for a lot of stuff that I don't need. ![]() I would do something like that in my DAW. ![]() I don't need drum track options or the karma engine (an arpeggiator as far as I understand it?). But it has much more options than I would need. Then the montage had more options like that but to me the sounds or the keys (not sure) lacked "life".Īnd the Kronos was absolutely great. I was hoping to get some good advice from you guys.įirst I tried the Roland FP 90 and the sounds were amazing and I liked the inbuilt speakers pretty much, but I really missed options like in the lounge lizard vst, where you can change hammer action, pickup, tine bar etc. I was thinking of getting a good stage piano for a while now and yesterday I finally went to the store to try a few models. Since I feel like many of you might have a lot of experience with some of those and alternatives I thought I might as well start one. I was looking for a discussion on the Kronos, Montage, RD-2000, MODX etc and did not find any.
